China has urged both India and Pakistan to remain calm and act in the interest of regional peace and stability following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a precision strike operation that destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
In a statement on Wednesday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the escalating situation and emphasized that India and Pakistan—both neighbors of China—should avoid actions that could further complicate the region’s security landscape.
“We are concerned about the ongoing situation. India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbors. They’re both China’s neighbors as well. China opposes all forms of terrorism. We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation,” the spokesperson said.
The statement came after India’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that Operation Sindoor was conducted in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. The Indian Armed Forces, using precision munitions, struck nine terror hideouts—four inside Pakistan and five in PoJK.
India described the strikes as focused, measured, and non-escalatory, stressing that no Pakistani military installations were targeted. The joint operation involved the Army, Navy, and Air Force, with constant oversight from Prime Minister Narendra Modi throughout the night. Targets were carefully selected to eliminate leaders of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), both designated terrorist organizations involved in orchestrating attacks on Indian soil.
